Sorry for missing yesterday, folks! We got really busy!
OK....some updates!
JV and Varsity had a stunt sequence evaluation - varsity did a neat inverted transition to walk-up libs! We got a blue superior ribbon! JV did a show-and-go extension/elevator sequence and ALSO got a blue superior ribbon! We are kicking booty on our evals!
We also did our cheer evaluations for crowd leadership, signs, stunts, and pom incorporation and both teams got blue ribbons!
We have some serious announcements and congratulations!
Congrats to Eric Lammon for being camp "Jump King!" We had six cheers enter the jump competition! They were up against some huge competition, and two girls (Chelsea and Chian) made it two rounds in the jump off! These six girls were even up against girls from Texas. And Texas girls can jump!!!!! :o)
We also are proud to announce that we have THREE All-American Cheerleaders! Alex, Madi "Swaynechild", and Chelsea are our all American Cheers! They will have the chance to travel to London over winter break to perform with other all American cheers across the country!
Tonight we had our Extreme Routine evaluation - JV did an extraordinary 5-group pyramid with an inversion for a blue ribbon, and Varsity did an enormous superman-ballback-liberty pyramid with a huge basket toss in the back. We are finding that our cheers each have special strengths that continue to surprise us each day.
TOMORROW....
Meet at 9 am for the performance in the fieldhouse adjacent to Moby Arena on Plum Street. Don't park on Plum - they are ticketing! Park in the Moby lot in any area designated with a GREEN sign (I've parked there all week, and haven't gotten a ticket.) Follow the noise to find the cheers. :o)
If you do arrive early, we will be practicing - we know you miss your athletes, but we have some HUGE evaluations and competitions to prepare for in a very short period of time. There will be plenty of time to rest and catch up after we conclude. Please, by all means, say hello, but help us to keep our athletes focused on the important task of evals.
At the conclusion of the performance, you may come to the dorm to see where our home has been the last three days, and help some very sore cheers chuck their luggage. ;o) Good news? We're only on the second floor this year.
Cheers must ride the bus home, but luggage does not have to ride the bus home.
If you are NOT attending the performance, we will have our cheers text when we depart CSU and again when we are about 20 minutes from arrival at CT - the end time for camp is not (and has never been) definite because we never know how long evaluations will last or how fast we can be getting out of the dorms. Ballpark estimate for arrival at CT is around 1:45, but plan for sometime between 1:30 and 2:30 at the absolute latest. If we can nail down a better time, I will send a Remind101.
We have had an incredible week. On behalf of all the coaches, we are so excited for this season and the potential that our athletes have! Thank you so very much for letting us take your cheers to camp and push them to their limits to be the best they can be!
Varsity...get ready for choreo next week!

Camp Update! Day 1
WE WON THE BANANA!!!
Now, if you're new to cheer, this may sound a little silly. But the biggest prize a team can get at camp at the end of the day is "The Banana." It's a big, plastic blow-up banana that goes to the team with the best attitude and the most spirit! We are so proud!
We made it through today with great success! Varsity got walk up libs that will go in our first evaluation tomorrow morning (um, elite camp, hello? An evaluation first thing tomorrow on Day 2? We need to get ready!) JV will be doing two extensions and elevators in their evaluation for tomorrow! Through all of this, we've kept a positive attitude and managed to walk away with only a few bumps and bruises.
As the week progresses, keep in mind that your cheer is in a very heightened emotional state - if you speak with him or her on the phone, the successes are going to seem really great, and the failures (I prefer the term "learning experiences") are going to seem really terrible. Please support your cheer but keep in mind that they are growing as athletes and pushing their limits this week. That growth does not come easily. Just when everything feels hopeless to your athlete, your cheer is on the edge of a breakthrough! Together we can get them to that moment.
For the final day performance, we are in the Practice Arena that is adjacent to Moby Arena on Shield Ave. If you park at Moby Arena and walk up Shield Ave, you'll see it on the right. I would get there by 9 am at the latest to make sure you see the final day performances - you might do some sitting and waiting, but it's better than making the trek and missing out! Bring camp chairs - the field floor is soft, but dirty. If that time changes, I'll post again. Keep in mind your cheer must take the bus back with us to CT, but at the conclusion of the performance if you want to come on the floor and pick up luggage, that's fine, too. We collect all the keys from the cheers when they are seated on the bus and we are ready to pull away to make sure we don't forget anyone. We have a wonderful parent volunteer who is going to bring some pizzas to the bus so that the cheers can have a snack to hold them over for the way home.
Looking forward to another day tomorrow! There will be much more to report on as the week progresses!

Week of June 5 - June 13
Hello, Cheer Families!
Here is the week upcoming:
Today: Dakota Valley Elementary - JV be there at 3:45, Varsity arrive at 4 - wear Trail, blue skirt, any white bow. If you have an extra white bow, please bring it to loan to the cheers who don't have bows yet.
CHANGE OF PLANS FOR SPLASH DASH!!! PLEASE READ BELOW! IMPORTANT!
Because the weather may look like it won't cooperate, we will be chalking the route on Sunday immediately BEFORE the race starts so the chalk doesn't get washed away by any potential rain. (This also saves you a trip and turns one day of the Splash Dash in to a two-point event, rather than 2 one-point events!) Here is the plan:
Meet at Mark Twain Elementary tomorrow morning at 7:40 am. We will pass out maps and divide the group up to chalk areas along the route. If there are parents or varsity cheers who are planning to drive and can drive a group of cheers to the designated locations to chalk, that will be really helpful, so people don't have to walk. By 8:45am we need to be in one of two places to cheer on runners for the race - one of those stations is a water station and we will help pass out waters, the other area is along a pretty brutal uphill section.
At the conclusion of the event, we will meet at Mark Twain to check out with me and you can be on your merry way!
Monday begins the official start to our summer workout schedule!
Bring, food, a fan and sunblock EVERY DAY. They will be shutting off the air inside, and although I think we will be okay indoors with fans, if it gets too unbearable we will go outside. I don't want anyone getting sunburned. Try to organize who will bring a fan to practice, and we can keep them in the cage. Just prepare for it to be stuffy inside.
Plan both emotionally and physically for these tough practices.
Again, choreo is scheduled at United Elite on June 25 and 26. It will last all day. Please make work arrangements NOW so you can be there. I'm guessing we won't go much past 4 each day, but please plan well in advance for these two incredibly important days.
