What a great way to end last week! I'm so happy for our finish at State, and the party on Saturday was a BLAST!!!! Thanks to all of the parents who contributed to both in food, gifts, and support!
I will be working on modifying our practice schedule for after winter break during winter break. We will likely not be adding to any practices currently scheduled, but I will be taking some off the schedule. Please keep in mind that as we wind down for the season, practices are STILL mandatory, as well as games for which you are scheduled. Timely changes are ok (timely for me is greater than 24 hours) but I've had a few last minute game switches and cancellations just in the first week we've been on Basketball games. This cannot become the norm. You can have a free game and a switch game. If you didn't use your free game during football, you can take another during basketball. With that being said, you may also choose to cheer at any game you are not scheduled for! The more, the merrier, and we would love to have you!
Please get your October, November, December Peak balances paid! ($85)
I need to know by Monday of next week if you will continue tumbling in January and February. It is tentatively scheduled from Jan 6 - Feb 17 with breaks for MLK and President's Day. Plan on cost being around $75, but I have to get the contract together before I can give an absolute firm number. If roads get nasty in Jan/Feb, as they often do, we will reschedule "snow" days in to March if needed. If you are a returner, now is the time to start focusing on tumbling/stunting skills for next season through private or semi private lessons and/or open gyms. The (somewhat) relaxed schedule should allow for you to do this. You tumble once per week for maintenance, and twice per week for progression. Harder skills (standing tucks, fulls, etc) should be worked on three times per week if you are really serious about gaining the skill.
December 21st game - if you need to be put in the lottery for the free game on December 21, please tell me on Monday at Peak. Please only put yourself in the lottery if you are going to be OUT OF TOWN. I will take three for the free game. Anyone else if you are going to be OUT OF TOWN, you can cheer an extra game in January or February to cover missing the December 21st game if you don't get chosen in the lottery. If you are here, you must be at the game. Members of the basketball team don't miss. We can't, either.
Mid-Year evals for Sophomores and Juniors: On Monday Dec 16, you will receive your mid-year evaluation to fill out at your convenience at Peak. Check the schedule to find out when you meet with coaches to discuss your progress and areas for improvement this year. Mid Years will be held for you on either Jan 7th, 9th, or 16th. Senior exit interviews will be held in February. More information to come.
We have a date for the mini-cheer clinic! Mark your calendars for January 25th from 7:30 - 11:30 am. The clinic will be from 8- 11. We need parent help! The practice on January 7th will be shortened to accommodate dropping off flyers at nearby elementary/middle schools to encourage mini-cheers to attend. We will take age 5 through 7th grade. We will have another pre-high school clinic for 8th graders who want to try out in March or April. More details to come. If you can pass out flyers at day cares, etc, please let me know and I will give you a stack!

STATE WEEK!!!! Dec 1 - 13th R
It's here! State week!
As you know, this is a HUGE week for us. Please be at school and be at practice. This is not the week to leave early or arrive late, or worse, miss practice. As mentioned since October, we have late practices this week so we can get much-needed gym space.
Our pre-state team breakfast will be on Friday at Tiffany's house. We will be leaving from Tiffany's. Remember, we have transportation to the Coliseum, but you must find your own transportation home. It will be a long day, but a great one! I can feel it! Start thinking now about what kind of performance you want to have and think about it every day this week!
Poms will be performing sometime around 2:20 and our mat time is (currently and tentatively) scheduled for 5:04 pm. Parents, think about arriving early in case there are any surprise adjustments, which are known to happen! Parking is $10, so carpools might be a good idea. Just remember to leave a seat for your cheer on the way home! Parent t-shirts will be finished!
So excited!
We also start our Basketball games this week. Please check the schedule to see if your group is "On" for Tuesday. Remember, you can take one free game and one "trade" game - I need adequate advance notice (more than 24 hours) of either. If you are NOT scheduled to cheer, please take the time to do something for yourself - get caught up on homework/schoolwork, visit with your family or friends, rest your bones. If you choose to come to the game to support, please remember that you are a cheerleader first and it's important that your support your teammates as well as the players - cheer with your teammates during time outs, etc.
Please get your tumbling checks ($85) for October/November/December to me ASAP! We have already used these services with Peak - don't forget to take out the $100 Nationals deposit in your total. Also, if you have any remaining balance outstanding, please submit that as well.
After December, tumbling WILL continue in to January and February on Mondays, but it is not mandatory to attend. If you are planning to continue cheering, you should commit to tumbling. Seniors, we would love to have you continue to tumble, especially if you are planning to cheer in college. I will need to get final counts to Peak by winter break, so please make this determination soon. Cost will be around $75 for January and February.
Our holiday party is scheduled for 7pm on Saturday, Dec 7 - your cheer rec'd an invite with the address and a "Secret Santa" to buy for. Keep the costs reasonable when purchasing gifts. If you would like to help, please contact Marissa's mom, Meredith, or Alex's mom, Sally.
Schedule for the week:
Monday, 12/2 - practice @ PEAK - mat time
Tuesday, 12/3 - practice 3 - 4:30/ Bball vs.Rangeview - groups who cheer arrive at 6:15pm
Wed, 12/4 - practice 7 - 8:30pm in the gym w/POM (run throughs)

Link to Nationals Information Powerpoint
Hi Cheer Families!
In case you missed the meeting, here is a link to the nationals PowerPoint presented last night. If you need friends and family paperwork, I have extra copies.
A quick summary:
1. We need a commitment by Monday, Nov 25th to determine if we have enough athletes to attend. A commitment is officially taken when cheers have signed the commitment sheet and submitted a $100 deposit (which won't be cashed until we know for absolute certain we have enough athletes to go).
2. Ballpark price: approx $1150
3. Balance for Nationals is due to NFHSS by January 8th (which means I have to send it in a bit earlier).
4. Reminder that we need a "critical mass" of athletes to attend. If we can't get enough athletes, we won't attend this year - no hard feelings.

As always, email or call with questions!
Bundle up for Saturday, it's going to be COLD!

Week of Nov 20 - Nov 30
Hello, Cheer families!
Oh, my! We are getting busy!
You should have gotten a tumbling/nationals deposit invoice handed out at practice on Monday and an invitation to our holiday celebration for Saturday, December 7th.
I sent an email and a remind101 regarding a pre-nationals meeting for tomorrow, November 21st. Notice is short, but we need to get the wheels rolling and get initial questions asked and answered. If you can't make it, please be sure to email me and let me know so that I can get you the information.
*There is a pending schedule change to the Eaglecrest boy's basketball game. If your group is on that game, please be ready to make a schedule switch. I'll let you know when I do what the change is.
Still waiting on bag damage photos if you have them!
(Still) no word on our floor time for competition on Saturday. I will get it to you in a remind101 as soon as I get the information. Neither JV or Varsity has a schedule at this point.
We have a HUGE game on Saturday at 1pm. If we win, we will be playing for the State Title next Saturday, November 30th (this is the Saturday AFTER Thanksgiving). Depending on our mat time for Saturday, plan on arriving at school at noon for a lunch provided by athletics!
We will be doing fundraisers for Nationals - each fundraiser must go through an approval process, which takes time. If we provide a service-style fundraiser, it might pop up on the calendar quickly. Just a heads up.
Preliminary State Information: Transportation for your cheer will be provided to the Coliseum but must find a ride home. If this is your first experience with State, it's a long day.
We need a parent volunteer to head up the end-of-season banquet. I'd like to set it for March 10th pending Basketball Playoffs.
I'm beginning to work up the summer schedule for next season for families who are planning vacations. Plan on a very heavy practice schedule in June and August with a long break for July.
Here is the schedule for the remainder of this week and next week:
Wednesday: Practice 3 - 5
Thursday: Practice 3 - 5
Thursday: Preliminary Nationals meeting @ 6pm in room 152 - if you are planning to go but cannot make the meeting, please email me directly so I can get paperwork to you. Sorry about short notice.
Friday: Non-optional Team bonding 3 - 4:30
Saturday: ????? Spirit for change.
Game VS. Valor @ Legacy - arrive at 12pm for a 1pm game time. If we don't have lunch, we can arrive at 12:20.
Sunday: NO ATHLETE CONTACT
Monday: Peak
Tuesday: Practice 3-5 - (Team bonding to follow?) Possible?
Wednesday: No school/No practice
Thursday: Happy Turkey Day!
Friday: Black Friday Shopping! We will try to get approval for a Black Friday "Day Care" fundraiser for nationals. If we can't get approval, plan on one for an upcoming December Saturday.
Saturday: STATE TITLE GAME.

Hello, Cheer families!
Parents, please see Meredith's email re: parent tees/sweatshirts!
Tumbling costs!!! : $85. I will send out updated invoices early next week, but please be ready to write the check when it comes in! Again, this covers October, November, and December tumbling.
Also, waiting on photos of bags that have bitten the dust. Please email them to me directly so we can take care of getting new ones.
This weekend we have the Mile Hi Regional at the NATIONAL WESTERN COMPLEX and a Football game Friday night at Stutler vs. Creek! Please come to support!
Friday arrive at Stutler at 6:30pm
Saturday: NAT'L WESTERN COMPLEX at 3:45pm for a 5:45 "go time" - we are the last team to perform, so awards will happen right after our performance. We should be done by about 6:30ish.
address: 4655 Humboldt St Denver, CO 80216
Basketball Schedules are posted to the calendar - your cheer has been randomly assigned to a "group" and has been given a paper schedule. If unsure whether or not to attend a game, please click on the event details and see which groups have been assigned to go. We will still have one "free" game opportunity and one "switch" game opportunity. If you need to "switch" a game, it must be with someone who is in your matching stunt position and you can do this once per winter season. Again, I can only honor 3 free spaces per game, and I need at least 72 hours notice. A switch game can be moved the day before if necessary. Please inform coach of your switch game as soon as your know who is taking your spot!
Group 1: Lauren G, Kelsey B, Maz, Noah
Group 2: Malia, Mufaro, Sierra, Jam
Group 3: Bre, Caressa, Ciara, Chelsea
Group 4: Marissa, Alex, Swayne, Eric
Group 5: Savie, Tiff, Weslyn, Diego
The December 21st game has been on the calendar since Mid-September because the date is during winter break and I wanted families to be able to make travel arrangements that went with the schedule. All members are expected to attend the game. We know there are people who are traveling. If you are traveling and more than 3 members on the team need to miss the December 21st game, I will go by lottery for who gets to take the free game. If you are not one of the three who get pulled for the lottery, expect to make up an additional game somewhere down the line.
Holiday party! We will be having a holiday party - date TBD but likely either Dec 7th or 13th. As soon as the date is set, we will send out an email and add to the calendar.
Here is the week upcoming - please pay attention to the calendar as some practices are late in the upcoming weeks so that we can get gym space. Times are already up (primarily, Dec 4 & 5 - we practice at 7pm) We will also be holding a practice with GHS in the near future! December 5th we will have a candelight at CT starting at 5:30pm before practice. Cheers, bring a (short) something to share with the team - either a poem, quote, or open letter to the rest of the team to encourage one another before State!
Today: Tumbling at Peak
Thursday: Practice 3 - 5
Friday: Game vs. Creek at Stutler Bowl! Arrive at 6:30 pm, dress TBD.
Saturday: Coliseum - Mile Hi Regionals. Wear sparkle whites with comp bow (guys were burgundy uni to match the sparkle whites).
Sunday, Nov 17th: NO CONTACT.
Monday, Nov 18th: Peak
Tuesday, Nov 19th: Practic 3 - 5
Wednesday, Nov 20th: Practice 3 - 5 cafeteria
Thursday, Nov 21st: Practice 3 - 5 cafeteria
Friday, Nov 22nd: practice 3 - 5 cafeteria
Saturday, Nov 23rd: Spirit for Change (info TBD). Last competition before State!
Have a great week!

Week of Nov 7 - Nov 16
Hi, families! Another Wednesday post on a Thursday...
Our go-time for this upcoming Saturday has been moved to one hour later. Therefore, you don't need to be at the event center until 8:45. Please come ready to go as discussed in the previous post. Awards will now occur at noon. We should wrap up by around 12:30.
Friday we will leave for the volleyball tournament at 11:30 am and will leave either at 4:15 or 5pm, depending on when the matches begin/end. We ordered Subway for dinner during the transition time between volleyball and football, so you will get the chance to eat between events!
Next week - we have 2 competitions, Leagues and Mile Hi Regionals.
Here is the upcoming schedule, also on the calendar:
Monday, Nov 11: NO PEAK. We will have practice at CT from 3 - 5:15. JV has scheduled mat time at peak. We will take the Wednesday tumbling time slot.
Tuesday: LEAGUES. Arrive at EHS at 4:30 pm - parents, doors open at 5pm. We will compete at 6:59pm, right before awards and the parade of athletes. Wear sparkle CT/new guy's uniforms, white competition bows, blue spanks.
Wednesday: Practice 3:30 - 5 AT PEAK. NOTE THE LOCATION CHANGE!!!!! Please organize your carpools sooner rather than later!
Thursday: Practice 3 - 5:30
Friday: Game? Playoffs? If not, practice 3 - 5:30 in the cafeteria.
Saturday: Mile Hi regionals at Denver Coliseum. This competition is HUGE. Standby for mat times and arrival times, I should know on Monday.
Sunday: NO ATHLETE CONTACT.
Two announcements:
Parents interested in a "bedazzled" CT Cheer shirt (same design as the cheer bag) we will be taking an order for those shortly. They will have your son or daughter's name on the back along with who you are (ie, Caressa's Mom) Dads or moms who want non-bedazzled shirts, we can arrange that, too. Standby for cost.
Also, if your cheer's cheer bag has faced excessive wear and tear, please take a photo of the damage and email it to trailvarsitycheer@gmail.com so we can get a replacement ordered.
I should have final tumble payments ready to go for you by Monday.
If we make the decision to go to nationals, we will have an informational meeting sometime in the next two weeks. The decision will be made Friday (as in, tomorrow!) as to whether or not we are going to go!
I think that's all for the next week or so! As always, call with questions.

Week of Nov 4 - Nov 10th
Bid for Nationals? Check!
We did great at the comp on Saturday, but we will definitely be making some changes that will help our scores in upcoming competitions. Get ready for a packed week!
Tuesday: Practice in the gym 3 - 5:15
Wednesday: Practice either at Fox Ridge or in CT Cafeteria (TBD) 3 - 5:15 with Unified Banquet at 6 pm. All cheers (as mentioned in previous blog posts) are expected to attend. The cheer program is paying for the cheers to attend. Cheers who had a unified partner, plan on saying a few words about your unified partner. All other cheers show up to support!
Thursday: Practice: 4:30 - 6:30 with comp film review beginning at 3:45 in Room 152.
Friday: Volleyball State tournament (during the day) and football playoff game in the evening - location and time TBD, but I'm reasonably assured it's another home game. Plan on arriving at the location at 6:15. We will make determinations on uniforms on Thursday pending the weather forecast. I caught word that the volleyball team would like us to attend the state meet on Friday during the day, but haven't completely confirmed this yet through athletics. For now, to be safe, let's get the paperwork rolling to ride the Spirit Bus. If you have any reason why you cheer should be in school rather than at the game (ie, an exam or an AP class that can't be missed) , please contact me ASAP. Also, parents will be receiving (MORE) waivers for this Saturday and Mile Hi. I thought we could send photocopies of the ones from Pueblo, but they must be originals.
Saturday! Broncos Classic at Douglas County Event Center located at:
Douglas County Events Center 500 Fairgrounds Dr . Castle Rock, CO 80104.
Our warm up is at 8:45 AM and our current scheduled competition time is at 9:05am. Please be at the competition NO LATER than 8 AM and DO NOT BE LATE! Give yourself time to get down to the location and get in the door. Wear your sparkle whites (guys wear new uniform, as well) with white comp bow. Navy Spanks for the girls.
Upcoming for next week:
Leagues: 4:30 pm at Eaglecrest on Tuesday, Nov 11. Floor time will be updated on Wednesday.
Mile Hi Regionals: Saturday, Nov 16th at Denver Coliseum - no floor times yet.
Spirit for Change: Satuday, Nov 23rd at Rock Canyon High School - no floor times yet.
State: Friday, December 6th at the Denver Coliseum - no floor times yet.
I think this covers us for the rest of this week. Another update to come on Wednesday at the usual time.

Week of Oct 30 - Nov 2
Good morning, cheer families!
Here are a few quick reminders for the rest of the week. I'll update again early next week for the week upcoming, but the dates and schedule for next week (with the exception of any playoff game we may have) is already posted below.
Friday:
Practice: 4 - 5:30 pm for comp run throughs. Parents, please come to learn the cheer for the last half hour (5pm) of practice! Remember, this is a practice for parents to learn and support our cheers. Cheers, bring your uniform.
Game vs. Arvada West at home: arrive at 6:15 pm - game time at 7. Bring bundle up clothes but also bring your uniform. Coaches will decide how to dress for the game depending on weather.
Again - if you are headed to Pueblo on Friday night to stay over in a hotel, the coaches will not be present and any supervisory responsibilities lie (lay?) solely with guardians.
Parents - if you have not received an email request from Leticia Pacheco, please reach out to her! (I don't want to say too much on the blog.)
SATURDAY!
Please arrive in Pueblo absolutely no later than 2:30. Let's just say 2 to be safe. Arrive ready to go in comp whites, and comp socks (guys wear white socks, judges won't see them). Girls: White comp bow, hair all the way up and the same, blue spankies, and everyone needs to wear matching shoes. They should all be broken in by now. Girls, if you need to do makeup or have another cheer do your hair, please do not wait until you arrive at 2:30 to ask someone. There is not enough time.
Our mat time is 4:30, run through time, 4:35, and our performance time is 5:00 on the dot. We need time to prepare before this, which is why we are arriving early. As stated in the Remind101, we have good placement after a large co-ed and just before the superlarge coed division. Remember we are not competing against any team going before or after us. Please stay focused on OUR TEAM. Don't gawk at what other teams have -we compete just as much in the warm-up area psychologically as we do on the mat physically.
We will begin stretching and warming up early stunts (if there is an area to do so) about a half an hour after we get in and settled.
That should be it for the rest of the week! Enjoy these few days off! Rest but stay loose!

Week of Oct 24 - Nov 2
Hi, families! It's getting close to competition time! I am so sorry for the delay on posting, but in trying to get out of town, things got too crazy to get a post in yesterday.
We don't know (and won't know until Monday at the earliest) when our mat time will be for Nov 2. As soon as I know, I will send a Remind101 and post to the blog when I can.
We still also don't know when we will play our playoff game and if it will be Friday or Saturday. As soon as I know, again, I will pass along the information to you. We will make every effort to cheer the game, and I'm guessing it will likely be Friday night. For this and a few other reasons, we have decided to push back practice on Friday, November 1st to 4-5:30 pm for comp run-throughs. If there is a game, we will order pizza before the game begins.
This is a second reminder that we are not headed to Pueblo early in any official team capacity. I know there are some families who may be getting hotels the night prior but the coaching staff will not arrive until Saturday the day of the competition. Keep in mind also that our mat time could be as early as first thing in the morning, or we might not go on until later in the day. It all depends on how UCA seeds the teams.
Your cheerleader should have (hopefully) informed you that we added another practice on Monday, October 28th, from 8-11 am. All cheers indicated they could make the practice and there were no time conflicts when discussed. If this is the first parents are hearing of this, my apologies. This extra time will give us the boost we need - full mat space and the opportunity to get one more practice in before we compete!
Tomorrow's game is at Stutler Bowl. Please be there at 6:15 to warm up and stretch. See Coach Sarro for details. It will probably be another chilly one!
Upcoming:
Reminder that November 6th is the Unified Banquet at 6pm. Cost is $10, but Cheer will pay for the team to go. Cheers, please let me know ASAP if you have a time conflict so that I don't pay for you to go. Otherwise, please plan to be there. Parents can attend at their own cost, but please RSVP to my email before Oct 30th.
Spirit for Change on Nov 9 has been moved to Nov 23. (It's a much friendlier location, too - in Highlands Ranch/Parker area). We will be doing another competition with the Denver Broncos on the 9th. Winners of those divisions at the Nov 9 competition get to perform at a pre-game Denver Broncos game!
League paperwork and UCA paperwork are due! Please turn in to Coach Sarro.
Have a great week and a restful fall break! Get ready to compete!

Week of Oct 16 - Oct 26th
Hello, Cheer families! Lots of changes/additions upcoming to the calendar in the next few weeks because we've secured extra gym time for comp season, so here is the update for the remainder of this week and next week! Please also double check the last blog post for information for the remainder of this week. (I re-do Wednesdays through Saturdays each post, adding information if needed.)
Friday's game will be cold and wet! Please bring layers/handwarmers/earwarmers/gloves/etc! I will make the call at Thursday's practice whether or not we will be dressing out in uniform or just wearing warmups with layers. Standby. Don't forget your poms.
PLAYOFFS: We will be starting playoff season in the next couple of weeks - keep your Friday/Saturday schedules clear outside of our competitions. We may be in a situation where we need to cheer and then go compete or vice versa. Let's hope our guys go far and we make it back to the big stadium for another shot at a state title! Information regarding playoff games is typically short notice due to the nature of the schedule. As soon as I have information regarding dates/times/locations, I will immediately pass it to you. If we go far, we will have a game the week prior to Thanksgiving and likely the Friday or Saturday immediately following.
COMPETITIONS: We are starting...get ready! Please review the handbook regarding eligibility and attendance. The same short-notice type of situation happens for our competitions, as well, and we could compete as early as 8 or 9 am or as late as 8 or 9 pm, depending on the size of the competition and other factors. Plan on arriving 2 hours before we are scheduled to go on. I do not have information regarding our floor time for Pueblo yet. Again, when I have it, I will immediately pass it along. I do know that we are slotted to go 8th (last competition slot) for Leagues, right before the JV division.
Preliminary Info about Pueblo: This is our first shot for a Nationals Bid. The Pueblo competition will be held at
Colorado State Fair Events Center
1001 Beulah Avenue
Pueblo, CO 81004
It's a bit longer than a 2 hour drive. If you aren't planning on heading down Saturday night (the cheer team is not sponsoring any hotel stays in any official capacity, but I heard that some people might take the trek down early), give yourself plenty of time to arrive - no telling what the weather, traffic, etc will be like.
We don't have an order of competition just yet. Again, when I have it, I will immediately pass it along.
Upcoming week and additions to the schedule:
Today, Oct 16: Practice at FRMS 3:00- 5:15ish
Thursday, Oct 17: Practice, Aux gym 4:30 - 6:30
Friday: Game vs. EHS - arrive at 6:15. It's "away", so CT spectators are on the visiting side of the stadium.
Saturday: OFF
Sunday: OFF - NO PLAYER CONTACT
Monday, Oct 21: Peak (still no word on tumbling payments yet)
Tuesday, Oct 22: Practice, gym, 3:00-5:30 with Parent Showcase beginning at 5! See Tiffany if you are interested in helping with the hallway trick-or-treat afterward.
Wednesday, Oct 23: Practice, FRMS 3:00-5:15ish
Thursday, Oct 24: Practice, 3:00-5:15 in the gym
Friday, Oct 25: Game vs. OHS
Saturday, Oct 26 - Thursday Oct 31: FALL BREAK - please rest your body, but do not get lazy! Keep stretching, throw some tumbling, etc to keep yourself from injury.
Friday, Nov 1: Practice 11:30 - 2:30 *****NOTE THE TIME CHANGE*****
Saturday, Nov 2: Southern Colorado Regional.
Sun, Nov 3: OFF - NO PLAYER CONTACT

Sun, Nov 10: OFF - NO PLAYER CONTACT
*December 4th 3-5:30pm in the gym
*December 5th 7 - 8:15pm in the gym
I think that's quite enough to make our heads spin for awhile. Please note the time changes for ALL November practices. We need all hands on deck!
I do not want to put the cart before the horse, but if we make a bid for Nationals and we determine that we are going (the decision will be made very shortly after the bid is issued), I want parents/athletes to be aware of the financials - flights to Orlando are not cheap this time of year and while we do get a discount by staying with Disney, it is still quite an expense to go. We will do fundraising and seek sponsorship, but please be aware that fundraising alone will probably not cover your cheer's entire cost. We still have October, November, and December tumbling payments to make through Peak, some are behind on team fees, and there is a winter athletics fee. We also have the upcoming holidays if you celebrate them. I know we've all been thinking about it, but it's time to put the cost of a Nationals trip to the front of our minds (as well as ways to offset it) as our cheers make the effort to earn the bid. :o)
UPCOMING BASKETBALL SEASON: We have a schedule for basketball, but we are going to be dividing up the games. Each game will have 3 stunt groups assigned to cheer it. Each stunt group should plan on doing one double-header. Most games this year are scheduled as double headers. This means we can get time in the gyms when the basketball teams are away, but we will have the potential for some long nights when they are home. Striking a balance between double headers, girls and boys games and wrestling matches, and schedules can be tricky. We will get the information to you as soon as we have it. There is a game scheduled for Saturday, December 21st at 8pm. Mark your calendars now. ALL cheers will cheer this game because of the time and date.
There will be a post comp season/winter holiday party planned after the state meet. Details upcoming.
Have a good rest of this week and next week! As always, call with questions.

Week of Oct 9 - Oct 19
Hello!
STILL waiting on Senior bios for the majority of my seniors!!! Senior night is on FRIDAY! See previous two week's blog posts for information.
Still also waiting on Tumbling information.
To review from last week:
Today: Practice @ FRMS
Tomorrow: practice - aux gym @ 3pm
Friday, Oct 11: GAME vs. GHS and Senior Recognition Night
Saturday, Oct 12 : Practice 4 - 7 pm with Keith, our choreographer.
FRIDAY GAME INFO:
It looks like it's going to be another chilly one on Friday. Please wear your uniforms for Senior night but also bring your warm ups. Bring a few extra layers, team issued head bands, and team issued gloves, and also bring hand warmers/toe warmers in case you get cold.
Parents/Escorts of Seniors: Start making your way down to the south end of the field (near the entrance) at around 3 minutes left in the half. POM and Cheer coaches will line you up and we will walk down to the fan section together to be announced. Senior recognition night begins right at the start of halftime, and we've gotten permission to add time to the clock, so we really have to make sure we are ready to go! Parents/Escorts, you will escort your senior down the track where he/she will be greeted by coaches and given a small gift. All parents/escorts have to do is show up, walk your cheer, and give them a big hug and a smile at the end :)
This is rivalry week with GHS! On Friday, GHS Cheer is having a competition with CTHS Cheer (similar to the Chik-Fil-A battle) at Firehouse subs. I will pass out flyers to cheers at practice today. Please pass them out to friends and encourage them to eat at Firehouse on Friday before the game - and to mention CT when ordering!
Next Week Schedule:
Monday, Oct 14: PEAK
Tuesday, Oct 15: VB vs. Mullen @ 6:15. We are cheering. Arrive at 5:45pm ready to go!
Wednesday, Oct 16: Practice at FRMS after school
Thursday, Oct 17: Practice in the GYM STARTING AT 4:30.

Week of October 4 - 12
Here is an update for the rest of this week/next week. Please refer to the last post for the remainder of this week:
Friday: We have a secret photo shoot! Don't ask what it is - just make sure you wear your sparkle white uniform with hair up in the blue awareness bow (the reverse side of your CT game bow). We will take the photo before the game.
Before heading to the field on Friday - you will change OUT of your uniform and completely IN to your warm ups, complete with any extra layers underneath that you can fit - it will be COLD. We cheer rain, snow, sleet, or shine, so plan accordingly. We have ponchos, gloves, hand, and toe warmers for this game. If you have a headband/ear warmers from last season, please bring it. It's probably not going to get any warmer at games this season, and we will probably make the playoffs which extends our football season, so if you are out doing your shopping and you see some hand warmers and toe warmers, please buy a few for yourself and throw them in your cheer bag. The program can only supply warmers for the first one, possibly two games. Costco has them for cheap.
Also, Friday's game is televised! It will likely take a bit longer because of TV Timeouts.
Saturday, Oct 5: OFF
Sun, Oct 6: OFF
Mon Oct 7: PEAK - still waiting on a final invoice from PEAK for October, Nov, Dec Payments. Standby. **Senior Information for Senior Night is DUE today.**
Tue Oct 8: Practice 3 - 5:30
Wed Oct 9: Practice: Location and Time TBD
Thu Oct 10: Practice 3-530
Fri Oct 11: Home FB vs. GHS Arrive @ 615. SENIOR NIGHT @HALFTIME!!
Sat Oct 12: Practice 4 - 7 pm with Keith, our Choreographer! Main Gym
Again, Team fees and Fall Athletic fees are now WELL overdue. I cannot register us for Mile High Regionals (this is our chance for a Nationals Bid) until all team fees are up-to-date, and you may not compete if your Athletic fees are not up to date.
We are taking off the October 26th Competition and will likely replace it with Spirit For Change on Nov 9.
Have a good week! Stay warm on Friday!

If you cannot attend, please send another family member in your place. Seniors, I need the following information by Monday, October 7th:
Your Name
The name(s) of those escorting you

How many years as a Varsity Athlete.
**October, November, and December tumbling payment will be due on October 8th. I'm in the process of finalizing the actual amount due - it will be less than $100, Please understand that I want to get the amount right, rather than over or undercharge you. I'm making every effort to get this information to you as soon as I possibly can. If you already paid $105 and/or the $58, we will credit your account. This is the final tumbling payment you will make for the fall season. Please see previous blog post regarding changes to tumbling.
**Team fees: If team fees are not paid up, please do so! I can't register us for competitions until you are!
*Athletic fees: If you have not paid your fall athletic fees (which were due the first week in August to Athletics), our Athletics office does not recognize you as a Varsity athlete. You will not be eligible for ANY competition, and you will not receive a letter/bars/recognition for being on the team. Please get them in ASAP if you haven't done so so that you can compete with us this year. Reminder that Winter athletic fees ($90) are due to athletics on November 8th. Same rules apply. Remember, this gets paid to Ms. Bode in the Athletics office, not to Cheer.
We will be working hard over the next few weeks to get ready for our first competition. Stay healthy, stay academically/attendance eligible, and stay injury-free!

Homecoming week!
Gosh, things have been so crazy!
Ok, here it goes for this week:
Tuesday: Volleyball. Arrive at 5:15
Wednesday: In the AM: Pep Assembly Practice at 7am. Then, Spirit Bus!!! After school/spirit bus, we will make signs for the football seniors and deliver them.
Thursday: Pep Assembly/Homecoming Game. We will likely do a run-through of the halftime performance for the game after school. (Football teams will be out there right before the game) After we are done, have fun at the tailgate, etc. Be back for the game at 6:15pm and DO NOT BE LATE. Balloon run-through stuffers, be sure to organize when/where you are doing this.
Friday: Volleyball Game. Arrive at 5:30 DO NOT BE LATE.
Saturday: Practice. Just kidding :) Go to the dance and have fun!
Sunday: Race for the Cure - contact Ciara's dad for more information.
Upcoming changes:
Please plan ahead for work schedules, etc - our practice on October 12 is from 4 - 7 pm. Keith will come back to work with us on our choreography and this is the only time he can do it. Do whatever it takes to get there. We need him to work with ALL of us on full mats.
Tumbling Changes:
The last month has been crazy at Peak - 45 kids with 3 coaches was not getting the cheers the time or attention they need to get them to progress. Therefore, in working with Peak, we've made a decision to move to one team per day at tumbling. Varsity will be moving to Monday ONLY for Tumbling. A few selected weeks we will be in on Wednesday instead (we share mat space with JV which is only available Mondays, so on the weeks JV gets mats at peak, we will go to the Wednesday tumble class). Pay attention to the calendar. If you typically ride with a JV to Peak, start planning NOW because only one team will be there at a time. The benefit is that we will keep 3 coaches, but will be only half the size in the same space. A secondary benefit is we can practice on Wednesdays at Fox Ridge Middle School and get a full mat to run through comp routines. This is a benefit for everyone! Less money, less gas, less stress, more directed attention, and more competition prep time means good things for our teams. Stand by for information regarding the cost of Tumbling for October - December. If you have already paid or overpaid, we will apply it to a future cost and/or (for the first time ever and only) refund.
**If you have not paid your team fees, please do so! We can't schedule any competitions (particularly Pueblo or Mile High Regionals - the comps that potentially give us a Nationals Bid) until we do.
Have a great homecoming week!

If your reason is excused, you will still remain a member in good standing. This is non-negotiable for safety reasons.
Please look over the calendar for October AND November. We've made a few changes that you should be aware of. Please also note that our competition on November 2nd is in Pueblo. That's a long drive. It is a first opportunity to earn a Nationals Bid. We will practice in the morning on November 1st. Our second (and last chance) for a Nationals Bid is November 16th.
Please make sure you are arranging your carpools more than 24 hours in advance. It can get very stressful on the people we love and who are here to support us if you are trying to find a last minute ride. The calendar is here for a reason! Plan well in advance!
Take care of yourselves over the next two weeks - stay healthy, and stay hydrated! It's about to get crazy and we need everyone healthy!

Update: Upcoming Events week of August 17th and Sept 7
Good morning, cheer families!
Two changes to the calendar - add the Fitness Festival to your calendar for September 7th - we have a football game that afternoon, so it will be a busy day for us cheers. The Fitness Festival is our opportunity to introduce ourselves to all of Cherry Creek Schools - every cheer and pom program will be there to support the runners, and we certainly want to be the team to watch! Wear your burgundy/silver/white CT uniform, girl cheers wear hair in a full pony with solid navy game bow ribbon to Fitness Festival. We will wear Trail unis to the game and reverse our bows.
I also added a run-through making event on Saturday, August 31st from 9 - 12. What we will do instead is have a short practice on Friday August 23 (currently scheduled as a ?) and then spend the remainder of the time putting together all run-throughs for our home football games. Our Saturdays are pretty full in September. It would be nice for all of us to get a Saturday off, especially because the competition season is looming. :)
Sell, sell, sell! Applebee's tickets! Sell to everyone! Sell! Sell! If you need more, I have enough tickets to feed an army! Remind your guests that the event ends AT 10am, so come with enough time to eat breakfast. If you haven't picked up your tickets yet, please see me Monday to do so. Remember to bring your ticket $ to the event on Saturday. Write on the outside of the envelope the number of adult tickets sold and the number of child tickets sold so that we can match up. Remember, we get $7 for every adult and $3 for every child. Do not exchange tickets with any other cheer - we have the tickets numbered for each athlete.
There is a CU Cheer camp on Saturday, August 24th from 9 - 5pm. Kelsey Rauh, former CT Cheer and current CU cheer, is helping to host the event. If you are interested in attending, I will have flyers available on Monday. You can work early shift at Applebee's and then head up to the camp.
Events for this week and reminders:
Monday: burgundy/silver/white unis to school. See notes from last week. Peak practice. LEAVE the parking lot ASAP! Change clothes at Peak. Traffic getting out of the school will be, as always, a nightmare. Once you are past that obstacle, you can arrive on time. Let's look forward to taking this as a challenge to stay ahead of the game! Please drive safely above all other goals. See info from captains on practicewear.
Tuesday: Practice immediately after school in cafeteria: 2 hrs, 15 mins from the time stretching begins. It's up to you to determine our final end time. Time is the great equalizer. Let's use it. See info from captains on practicewear. We will sign up for time slots for the Applebee's fundraiser on Tuesday and also have an all-team meeting. Practice outcome: finish comp cheer.
Wednesday: Peak practice. (See Monday's notes).
Thursday: Practice after school (See Tues notes). Practice outcome: clean comp cheer.
Friday: Short practice and run-through making. Practice outcome: Stunt progression, make all run throughs, goal end time: 4:30pm.
Saturday: Applebee's fundraiser!!!! I'm excited! CU Cheer camp after - see me if you're interested in attending.
Sunday: As always, NO contact between coaches and athletes.
**EVERYONE must match at practice. Conditioning opportunities exist!
You all are great! Have an awesome first week of school and represent us well!

Friday, August 16 Update: Applebee's and Waivers!
If you didn't get the Remind101, the Applebee's tickets are ready! Please see your respective coach ASAP to get them. If you can't pick them up today before 3pm, they will be at Peak on Monday, or stop by my office to pick them up during the day. Please sell your tickets, and return the money in the envelope they were passed out in. On the front of the envelope, indicate how many adult tickets were sold and how many "kid 10 and under" tickets were sold so we can match up the money. If you need more tickets, we have PLENTY!!! Just come to my office! This is our big fundraiser for choreography! Each adult ticket sold earns $7 for the program, and each child ticket sold earns $3 for the program. We will have shift sign-ups to wait tables on Tuesday at practice. This is going to be fun! Sell to your friends, your family, your neighbors, your pet chinchilla, anyone! I don't know if they will allow us to sell tickets at the door, but we will try to do that, as well.
Waivers for Peak are absolutely due on Monday. If you did not submit your bright orange waiver and do not bring it Monday, you may not participate in tumbling. This is a liability issue for Peak. The previous waivers were updated during the time we passed them out and the time we started classes, which is why we need to do a second waiver. Again, your priority on Peak practice days is to get out of the parking lot by 2:50pm to get to tumbling class on time!

Hi, Cheers and Cheer families!
The rest of this week...
We will have practice on Wednesday at PEAK from 3:30-5pm.
Thursday is the 9th grade barbecue - all 9th graders should attend! Have some fun! Because we lose practice space to the family night, we will not practice. We did not get approval for "Flip for a Tip" at the Family night, but I think we might have the chance to try and use this fundraiser elsewhere.
Friday there will be no cheers or poms at the 9th grade orientation. Let's just take the day off, rest up, and get ready for the school year!
Next Week:
Monday Aug 19: Wear your NEW uniform to school! Girls wear hair half up with a white cheer bow. All cheers wear your new cheer shoes. Do NOT wear warm ups in the hallway or put on warm up pants under your skirt. You should be in full uni all day - if the classrooms are cold (usually science rooms) you can wear your full warm up in class. Practice at PEAK at 3:30. Take care of yourself and plan ahead for rides. See captains for practicewear. Girl cheers: Wear a bow!
Tuesday Aug 20: Practice in the cafeteria immediately after school. We will run a 2 hr, 15 minute practice from the moment stretching begins. If mats are rolled out at 3 and we are stretching, we will be done by 5:15. Don't dawdle! See captains for practicewear. Girl cheers: Wear a bow!
Wednesday Aug 21: Practice at PEAK. See above. See captains for practice wear. Girl cheers: wear a bow!
Thursday Aug 22: Practice in the cafeteria after school. Again, 2 hrs 15 mins from the moment stretching begins. Get mats, get changed. See captains for practicewear. Girl cheers: wear a bow!
Friday Aug 23: Practice in the cafeteria after school. Again, 2 hrs, 15 mins. Free day for practicewear!
Saturday, Aug 24: Fundraiser at Applebees! Start selling tickets NOW! Minimum 8 tix - $12 per adult, $8 for kids 10 and under. Plan to work a shift (2-3 hours) on Saturday waiting on our friends and family! This will be FUN!

Hi, Cheers!
A few (more) updates and reminders:
The Applebee's location for Saturday, August 24th is at Iliff and 225 from 8-10am. At practice on Tuesday, we will have a sign up for you to work one of 3 shifts: Shift 1 will be from 7:45-9am. Shift 2 will be from 8-9:15, and shift 3 will be from 8:45-10am. Those of you who are interested in going to the CU Cheer camp, plan to work the 7:45-9am shift and head on out to the camp after. All families/friends who are eating need to be out by 10 am, so encourage purchasers to allow themselves enough time to eat and be out by 10. We will not be doing the silent auction at this event. We will keep the silent auction in our back pockets if we get a bid to Nationals and do this event again. ;)
For MONDAY August 19th practice and all tumbling practices forward...your priority is to get out of the parking lot by 2:50 pm at the absolute latest. That gives you six minutes from the final bell to find your carpool and get on the road. My suggestion is to change clothes at Peak or change during lunch and wear practice wear under warm ups to fourth period (if you have one). I would rather have you at Peak on time and 1 or 2 minutes late in to the gym than dressed and waiting in the school lot waiting in traffic and 15 minutes late to practice. Every minute late you leave from school translates in to waiting 5-6 extra minutes in traffic lines. Just get out of the lot. Coach Scott and I are in the same boat as you are, fighting the same traffic. Get out of the lot. Get out of the lot. Get out of the lot. What is the goal? Get out of the lot.
Also, I was almost late today because I took 470 to Broadway and there is construction at Broadway and 470. If you are choosing to take 470, exit at University. Head Left on the off-ramp. Turn right on Dad Clark. Turn right in to the 24 Hour Fitness parking lot. No traffic backups. Fewer traffic lights. Happy drivers. On time cheerleaders. Happy Coach.
Girl cheers: please await information from captains regarding how to wear hair on Monday at school - we were at an impasse this evening at tumbling.
Please plan to arrive at school on Thursday at 5:30 unless you hear otherwise from Tiffany or Diego if you are planning to attend the freshman family night tomorrow evening for a half point community service. Wear Trail uniforms (captains please confirm if this is not what we decided, but I think that was what we chose), hair down or in a white bow. I will be around all day at school, so come see me if you have questions.
If I don't see you tomorrow, good luck at school on your first day on Monday! Above all, represent the cheer program well! There are many people who are expecting great things out of us this year and we will absolutely deliver on those expectations! Remember what we have been working for as athletes. In all of your interactions with others, keep your eyes on the goal - leaving a legacy for CT cheer.
