Happy Holidays!
A couple of announcements -
THANK YOU for getting your paperwork back to me quickly! Everything's sent!
Our next fundraiser is for the pancake breakfast! It is at CT this year, NOT Applebee's. Every cheer got 10 tickets for pre-sale - adult tickets are $10, kid tickets are $5. Pre-sales give us a good chance to make pure profit off the breakfast, so pre-selling is important. If you need more tickets to pre-sell, please let me know! I also passed out flyers for cheers to put up in neighborhoods, etc.
Yankee Candles will be in the athletics office TODAY immediately after school. Please come and pick them up.
We will be competing one time before nationals on Jan 24. Details to come.
This week:
Thursday: GAME groups 1, 2, 4. Arrive at 6:15.
Tomorrow, Friday, Dec 19: NO PRACTICE.
Have a wonderful and restful holiday!

Week of Dec 11 - Dec 19
Hello, Cheer families!
I'm still just over the moon from last week! What a great day.
We all had such a good time at Savie's last night at our holiday party! Special thanks to Sharon and Jeff Marshall for opening up their beautiful home to us for a night of celebration and bonding. It was a great way to end the bulk of our competition season.
Basketball and wrestling is officially in full swing! Remember cheers, if you need a free game, I need notice, and it's not a guarantee that we can accommodate it. Because we cut down so heavily on the number of cheers during basketball season, we can't have more than 2 people take free games at a time because our numbers get too small on the court. Therefore, free games are requests - not guarantees but I will do my best to help accomodate. If you switch a game with someone, I also need to know so that I don't have any surprises when the team shows up at game time. The person who is initiating the switch is responsible for informing Coach.
While we're at it, I'll just re-iterate that there are NO FREE GAMES OR SWITCH GAMES DURING FINALS WEEK. PLAN your studying for finals accordingly. Our Tuesday practice will be shortened to accommodate studying since that afternoon is the shortest period of time between the end of class and start of finals. Practice, as always, is mandatory that week. Ask your teachers for a review before break if you feel like you will need it. With proper planning now, it will not be an issue.
We have some (more) paperwork to sign and medical releases, etc to fill out for Nationals. I will pass these out on Tuesday of next week and I need them back by Wednesday at UE. I only received ONE copy of each of these papers per athlete, so it is imperative that you don't lose it. If you are a cheerleader, plan to get this paper on Tuesday and take it home. If you are a parent, plan to fill it out Tuesday night and return it Wednesday. One form will be an airline information form so I can put the names on the plane tickets as they should appear. Plane tickets and all of the nationals bill has been placed as a loan from athletics as I mentioned at the Nationals meeting, so ignore the cancellation policy verbage from UCA - our deadline for nationals financial commitment passed when we gave the deposit in November.
Friday's game was highlighted in Bold on the basketball calendar (which usually indicates a home game) but then it is listed as away. The game on Friday is away. (We don't typically travel during basketball season until playoffs). So we will ALL be pitching in for Fundraiser Friday. See below for details.
The Pancake breakfast is our next big fundraiser following JV state this weekend! Cheers will get twelve tickets to pre-sell for the breakfast. Tickets are $10 for adults and kids over 10 and $5 for kids under 10. The breakfast is on January 10th in the cafeteria. We will also take walk up guests, but the pre-sales guarantee that we make some money from the event. If you need more pre-sale tickets, we can definitely accomodate.
Please also continue to make contacts with local businesses for website sponsorship! All they have to do is go to the CT athletics website, click on "Support our Athletic Teams" and choose Cheer. Easy as pie. Also, I was contacted by Blackstone to do community babysitting on Friday nights. I'm going to work with them to see if we can get that rolling for cheers on the nights they don't have to do Friday night games as an additional resource. Please also don't forget that Bronco games are a good way to raise money as well.
Friday and Saturday:
Friday night is our second Parent's Night Out event. All cheers will attend - there is no game to cheer that night. Bring games, books, coloring just like last time. Starting at around 7:30, some cheers will go to work with Mia to set up for JV state, some will tie bells on to holly grams, and most of you will be with the kids for PNO. Parent's night out is from 6 - 9. Cheers, please arrive at 5:30 for set up in the lower lecture center like last time.
Saturday for JV State: Cheers, please arrive at 7:30am. Wear a matching CT shirt - get info from Captains as to which one. I don't recommend the State shirt because you'll probably get hot in long sleeves. Each Cheer has a job to do for the full day. Parents, if you haven't signed up for a slot, please do - there are some still left over. If all the slots fill, please come for the two hour time you would have signed up for - there will probably be PLENTY of things that need a hand. There may - don't count on it - be some time between set-up and the start of the competition for cheers to leave and come back again if they want, but if there's stuff to do, we have to get it done, so don't count on that time just in case. We will be done at the conclusion of the competition after all the mats are rolled up, concessions are cleaned up, tables are put back, and CT looks like a school and not a competition venue again. Cheers plan to stay until that's done. The more people who pitch in, the faster it goes and the faster we can be done.
Thanks to everyone for working so hard this week for fundraising, etc and taking on JV State - it's a big undertaking, and it makes us an important part of the spirit community when we help out in this capacity.
This week:
Thursday, Dec 11: NO PRACTICE
Friday, Dec 12: PNO, JV State Set up
Saturday, Dec 13: JV STATE! Parents, arrive at your scheduled time, cheers arrive at 7:30 am and plan to stay all day.
Sunday, Dec 14: NO CONTACT
Monday, Dec 15: UE, 3:30-4:30
Tuesday, Dec 16: Pass out hollygrams during lunches. Practice 3-5:30 - cheers will get more nationals paperwork.
Wed, Dec 17: Pass out hollygrams during lunches. UE, 3:30 -4:30, cheers return nationals paperwork.
Thursday, Dec 18: Bball vs East groups 1, 2, 4. Arrive at 6:15.

Week of Dec 6 - Dec 14
Hello, cheer families!
What a week!
I don't know about you but I am still over the moon for this team and all of the work they've done this season to perform so well at State. I can't wait to go over score sheets with the team. We owe a HUGE part of our score to the support of the crowd, too! So loud!
And now, on to the next big thing: Nationals!
This is a HUGE fundraising week for us, and there is a lot of important information below - a lot of it is for the cheers to read since we start Hollygrams on Monday and didn't quite get a lot of time to talk about what we need to do to sell them, and since we have a little break this week, we won't all be together all at once again for sure until Wednesday night for the party, and I don't want to talk shop at a celebration.
Parent's Night Out: This Friday. I sent an email to the whole CT Staff about it, and I'll put flyers in staff mailboxes on Monday, as well. It's up on the Marquee at the school entrance, too, for anyone who drives by. Everyone plan to attend - this one is going to have a bigger turn out, I think. At around 8:30, we will go set mats in the main gym for JV invite for Saturday.
JV State: Please, parents, if you haven't signed up for a slot on sign up genius, please do so! There are still a few slots open, and we need all the help we can get. The cut from concessions goes to the girls for Nationals, but we need parents to work some of the other spaces that are geared more toward adults - particularly concessions and spectator management. Here is the link to sign up again in case you don't want to dig through email to find it: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0945aaab23a64-jvinvite
Remember, parents you only have to sign up for one two-hour space. Cheers will work the full day running score sheets, helping with concessions, moving teams from warm up to on-deck to performance area, etc. Mia is working on putting girls in to work spaces this week. Cheers arrive on Saturday at the school at 7:30 - we should be done by around 3:30 or 4 so long as the comp runs on schedule.
HollyGrams: LOTS OF INFO, CHEERS PLEASE READ!
HollyGram sales start this week. We are ready to go with bells and holly message tags. For your lunch, report to the sales table. If you are off on A day during 3rd, work any lunch you would like, we have plenty of even coverage but plan to be there during the transition periods to make sure no one messes with the table. If you are off B day during 3rd, work the second lunch shift - there are only two people there to manage, so we need everyone off on B day to work the second shift, plus the transitions between the lunches so the table isn't unattended.
**I know there is a pretty big gap between first and second lunch - you don't have to sit during the whole time but someone bring me the money and the holly papers after first lunch. If you work second lunch, pick up the money and holly papers from me in room 128 on your way to the lunch table.
Here is how this will work:
FIRST: One cheer come to my classroom (I teach 3rd both days, unfortunately) to pick up the change box.
1. Kids approach the table, pay a dollar per holly gram.
2. Cheers collect money/make change. Give the student the hollygram to fill out.
3. Students MUST include the First AND LAST name of the person they are sending to AND grade level along with their message. They put their message on the BACK of the hollygram.
4. Cheers, record who is receiving the hollygram (first and last name by grade level) on the master sheet.
5. Cheers, double check to make sure the message is nice and appropriate. We will not pass out mean hollygrams - even if they are a "joke" because we can't tell the difference, so we have to assume it's meant to be mean.
6. Collect the hollygram and put it in ABC order by last name according to grade - this will make passing them out so much easier. At the end of your lunch, make sure someone who is off sits with the table during passing period to watch all our stuff. I will be there during third lunch to help out, so I can take the money at the end.
7. We will tie bells on the hollygrams and do a final sort/master list on Friday during Parent's Night Out.
8. We will post the sign for hollygrams on Monday outside the cafeteria windows and then we will work tuesday and wednesday (if needed) to deliver them during lunches.
Cheers - it is extremely important that we make sure this goes well. This could be a huge fundraiser for us and if we don't do everything right, we won't be allowed to do it again. Please make sure you are on your best behavior and be very careful when handling and exchanging money, reading messages, and such. Do not give out hollygrams for free. I think it would be a really nice gesture if you have a unified partner to give a hollygram to your unified partner.
We start this on MONDAY!
Wednesday is our holiday party! 6-8:30pm at Savie's. Parents, come join in the festivities as well! You drew for a secret santa on Thursday Night - bring a $15 gift for your person. Please don't go over on it. Savie/returners, if you want to do white elephant ornaments, please organize!
Basketball starts this week! If your group is scheduled to cheer, arrive for the games at 6:15. We will gradually push this back as we get more comfortable cheering basketball games. Since we didn't go over basketball chants, we gotta do that in warm ups. If you lost your schedule or you need an electronic copy, click here:

This week upcoming:

Nov 24-Dec 14
Happy Thanksgiving!
Yesterday marked our last practice before we return on Monday. We will be observing a no-contact from today through until next Monday. Everyone needs some important time away to reflect and regroup before State. (About time, right?) There are no required practice times from now until next Monday. If you choose to go to an open gym, please be careful! We can't afford injury, and let's not overlook the importance of resting your body during this time, too.
I have the details for JV State - varsity athletes need to plan to be there all day and dress alike so we are easily recognized. We need 2 parent volunteers in 1 or 2 hour time slots from 7:30-3:30 all day to be in the window in concessions, and also parents to run registration, door bouncers to make sure people have paid, etc). POM and POM parents will be helping out, too! They organized ALL of the food, etc, all we need to do is show up and help out. Mia will be putting together a sign-up genius account for parents/ cheers to sign up for time slots. This is a HUGE event, and we really need everyone's help (parents and cheers both!). As soon as I get more information about sign up time slots, I'll pass it along. We need to set mats at the conclusion of Parent's Night Out on Friday night so they are ready to go in the morning.
We got approved for holiday "Holly-grams" to sell at lunches for Nationals. We will set up a table during lunches to sell Holly-grams the week after State. What is a holly-gram? It's a little bell with a holly-shaped cut out attached to it that students will have the chance to buy during lunch. They will write a message on the holly cut out to a friend or secret admirer and the cheers will distribute those during lunches on the week before break. Kids can put the bells on their backpacks and let them jingle through the hallways to get in to the Holly-day spirit! I'm really excited that this got approved. It is so very important that this goes well so that we have the chance to do it again next year.
We also have our next parent night out event coming up on the 12th. The week after State is going to be a hard-hitting week for fundraising. Expect to be busy!
Also, the pancake breakfast fundraiser is a "go" for January 10th! More details to follow.
We will meet at Savies house on the morning of State but our ride leaves at 7am. Savie's mom has offered her house for the cheers to get ready and do hair. They have even offered to stay on Thursday night so you don't have to find a ride early on Friday morning. I am perfectly ok with this as long as cheers actually sleep! If you do go to Sav's on Thursday night, bring your own blanket and a pillow!
Here is the week upcoming:
Tuesday, Nov 25 - Nov 31: BREAK No Contact
Monday, Dec 1: UE 3:30-4:30
Tue, Dec 2: Practice, 7-9pm gym
Wed, Dec 3: UE 3:30-4:30
Thu, Dec 4 : Candle light 5:30, practice 7-8:30ish
Fri, Dec 5: STATE! Meet at Savie's house for hair and breakfast - our transportation arrives promptly at 7 to take us to the Coliseum!
Sat, Dec 6: Post state break
Sun, Dec 7: NO CONTACT
Mon, Dec 8: UE (You can miss one UE this week without penalty if you choose. Let me know which day (Monday or Wednesday) you plan to miss)
**Holly-gram sales start today through Friday during lunch - cheers plan to sell during your lunch.
Tue, Dec 9: First Basketball Game!
Wed, Dec 10: UE 3:30-4:30
Thur, Dec 11: POST STATE BREAK
Fri, Dec 12: Parent's Night Out #2 AND Basketball game - plan to be here to cheer/work with kiddos.
Sat, Dec 13: JV State at CTHS - cheers work all day, parents 2 hour time slots.
Sun, Dec 14: NO CONTACT
Have a good break!

Week of Nov 19 - Dec 6
Hello, cheer families!
Lots of information for this week.
Friday is our first Parent's Night Out Kid Clinic. We've already had a few phone calls of kiddos who are coming. Cheers: wear comfortable clothes, but make sure you have on some sort of CT cheer gear. Wear your hair up (half up is fine) with any bow. I think the little girls will want to see that. Here's what we need:
*Cheers arrive no later than 5:30 pm for set up - parents dropping off kids will need to fill out a waiver, so we need everyone helping either sit with kids as parents drop off OR collecting money/waivers from parents who are dropping off.
*Each cheer Bring something with you for the kids to do - either a puzzle or a game or some storybooks, maybe if you have a brother or a sister and they have toys you can borrow, SOMETHING. We don't have a set schedule laid out just yet, but part of the evening will be spent teaching an easy CT chant, playing ships and sailors or other games, eating pizza, possibly showing off some very simple stunts, and watching a movie. The rest of the time will be free "ish" time, but remember that idle hands make mischief, so we have to keep the kiddos occupied. The event is in the lower lecture center, so we need cheers positioned in places around the school to direct families where to go.
*We need a parent who can go out and pick up some $5 hot-n-readys and some paper plates and water cups (we can fill our jug and bring it down) once we know how many we need to feed. Cheers, please plan to eat on your own - we can get pizzas for ourselves, but that comes out of our overall profits for the night.
We passed out a TON of flyers last friday, so we could have 20 or we could have 200. If there are parents who are willing to help out with this night and lend a hand, I would greatly appreciate it. Mostly just for guidance for our cheers to run the night. Our cheers will keep the little ones occupied.
PARENTS: UCA has a cancellation policy that MUST be signed and returned to UCA no later than December 4th. If you are planning to attend nationals as part of the group package, you have to sign the cancellation policy, as well. Our cancellation policy for CT is much tighter than UCA's for a number of reasons, so please disregard the dates on the UCA cancellation policy. I will pass out parent package information and the cancellation policy today at UE. I need them returned no later than MONDAY so I can get them mailed off in time for the deadline. (I just got this packet on Saturday at our competition - it didn't come with our bid at Pueblo - sorry for the quick turnaround).
PARENTS who would like to attend Nationals with the team - get your registrations in FAST so that you can guarantee you will be with the cheerleaders at Caribbean Beach. Basically, if you sign up on our package, you pay individually but you register under our registration number, which I will give to you in the parent package. As a parent, your cancellation policy follows the same policy as UCA delineates since our program isn't affected by a parent or spectator cancellation. I am not able to manage parent registrations/group disputes/rooming arrangements/etc.
I passed out Nationals balance sheets and cheer balance sheets last Thursday to your cheers. Our first $267 payment for Nationals was scheduled for November 17th, but I will push it back to December 1st so that we have time to input Yankee Candles and Parent's Night out Discounts. November cheer payments will remain for Nov 20th. Any payment toward your final balance is sufficient. Butterbraids have been added to your cheer balance, but they were added right after I passed out balance sheets since totals were finalized right after they were passed out.
Many have asked what happens if you "over fundraise" for Nationals. If this does happen, the best I can do is one of two options - I can give you a credit balance for next season, or I can get most of your balance placed on a WDW gift card for you to spend at Disney. That will work for pretty much any counter service meal location, gift shoppe, or what have you. The remaining that can't be placed on a card (cards only go in certain increments) will go to next season's account if your daughter is offered a spot on the team.
We have sold at least one website ad, with more in the works! If you know of anyone who may be interested in advertising with us on our website, please let me know!
Still no word on Concessions for JV State...
State - we go EARLY for state this year. We are exactly halfway through the 5A teams, but that still leaves us leaving pretty early in the morning. Your cheer will have transportation TO the Coliseum, but not HOME from the Coliseum. Please arrange your rides for a ride HOME after the conclusion of 5A finals. Whether we make finals or not, we will stay through to the finish of our division. The full schedule is up on www2.chsaa.org. We will meet in the morning at one cheer's home to do hair and such. It will be very early, so we may just meet at that home as a jumping off point, or just meet at the school. I'm going to let the team decide this week on that. Our ride will arrive to take us to the Coliseum at 7am for an 8am arrival. So we need to be READY to load on to the transportation no later than 7am on the morning of State.

Week of Nov 10-23rd
Hello, Cheer families!
Lots of information for the weeks upcoming. If you didn't hear, we are NOT attending UE today - the roads are awful, and I don't want the kids driving on them. Please know this isn't an "every time it snows" thing - I just drove on them on the way in today at around 10 and even without traffic they were pretty dodgy for a new driver and the forecast says it won't stop until around 6, so I don't think they will clear in time for practice, and it's the small, slick snow with a layer of ice underneath. Instead, we will practice HERE at school from 3:15-4:30.
This weekend - it's gonna be a late one. I JUST got the final schedule yesterday night. Please arrive at the Western Stock Show complex NO later than 2:30 for a 3pm warm up time for GameDay. We are competing against 5 other teams in gameday, including Valor, who was right behind us scorewise at Pueblo. We will warm up for our Medium Varsity at 5:00 for a 6:05 performance time. Looks like co-ed division follows us, and then we will have awards. Plan to be there until sometime after 8 - just like last year, this is a late one. It's the largest regional in the Nation. Bring homework or a pillow or something to do while we wait for awards. Or watch Co-Ed. It'll be pretty good.
Fundraiser Fridays for Nationals start this week! You should have already gotten a Yankee Candles order form. If you have family purchasing online, go online and create a username so that the sale gets credited to your individual account, otherwise it will go in to the general fund.
I have gym times for us during State Week - they are LATE (7-8:45 pm) so we can get full mat space. Please plan accordingly.
The holiday party is scheduled for Wednesday, dec 10 from 6 - 9pm AFTER UE practice at Savvy's house. Details to come.
Schedule for the week:
Today: Practice AT SCHOOL, NOT UE from 3:15-4:30
Thusday, Nov 13: Practice, 3:00-5:30
Friday: FUNDRAISER FRIDAY. You will be organized in to groups to go out and either sell Website ads or pass out flyers for Parent's Night Out, which will take place on Nov 21 and again on Dec 12. Mazzy's mom is working on trying to get a table at King Soopers for you to sell Yankee Candles from 4:30-6:30 as well if you are planning to sell candles. I'll let you know as soon as I do. Since we don't have school, you can go and do your group selling at any time during the day, but please dedicate yourself to a MINIMUM of 2 hours. Nationals is expensive, and this is the way we offset costs. Butterbraids will come in on Friday afternoon as well, if you sold those.
Saturday: Pre Comp Warm Up Practice 8am-9:30 Am. Then, Arrive at the National Western Complex (right across from the Denver Coliseum) at 2:30 for 3 pm GameDay warm up. DO NOT FORGET YOUR GAME POMS. Arrive in Blue CT and bring comp whites like Pueblo.

Week of Nov 4 - Nov 16
Hello, Cheer families!
I'm updating a day early since I have some new information regarding this weekend's competition as well as a potential last minute addition to the schedule.
It appears there may be some confusion regarding Nationals. We got the bid for both the Medium Varsity division AND Gameday division. We will compete at Nationals in BOTH divisions - we took first last weekend in Gameday! ALL cheers will see the competition floor at Nationals, at a minimum in the GameDay division. There WILL be fundraising opportunities for Nationals - our biggest one being the website ads, which just got finalized yesterday. Also, running concessions at JV State will be another big moneymaker for us. Again, all fundraising for Nationals that we do as a team will go in to the kitty to reduce the overall cost of attending and will reduce our monthly installments as outlined in the PowerPoint presented at the meeting on Oct 23 (I've attached a link here: Nationals Meeting Presentation ). If you worked or are working Bronco games, those will apply to your nationals bill individually. Some have already worked enough Bronco games to pay for the trip entirely. If you "over-fundraise" as an individual for Nationals, that money will be credited to your individual account.
Just a reminder that my phone number for all business matters concerning cheerleading is 720-326-7419. If, for some reason, you have any other phone number besides the one listed above, please erase it. I will not return phone calls or texts made to my private phone. Thanks for understanding.
Volleyball made the State Tournament! They play Friday and Saturday. Usually the team plays during the day, and we take the spirit bus from school to go and support. This year, CT has one of the later games on Friday and it's vs Grandview, which is a HUGE game. POMS and Cheer will go to the Coliseum on Friday evening to cheer the game. We don't know how late it will go or necessarily when it will start - all matches run on one court, and each match varies in length. There is no way to tell what time we will play, especially since the seven matches prior add in a lot of time variation (one game could be done in 3, and the next could play all 5, etc. Compound that by 7 matches, and it's anyone's guess as to which time we will play - I'm going to put us down for a 5pm arrival, and we'll go from there - I will be getting updates from the AD as the day progresses so we can nail down a better time where we won't have to wait long for our match to begin). They are working on getting a spirit bus, but it's not looking promising as availability is tight. We will be done as soon as the match has ended. We will NOT cheer on Saturday at the Volleyball game as we are competing ourselves.
The schedule for this Saturday is up, and it's a tough one! Arrive at Douglas County High School no later than 3pm for a 4pm check-in time. Performance time for parents is at 4:50pm. We should be done with the competition at around 6pm. Monday is League. We perform FIRST at 6pm. Cheers please plan to arrive at Eaglecrest at 4pm.

Week of Oct 30 - Nov 9
Well, it appears we found ourselves in the middle of competition season!
I am so proud of the job we did last week! We've added in some difficulty for this weekend, and I'm really excited about the changes we've made that will increase our stunting scores and our overall effect scores. All of us - cheers, parents, coaching staff - have been working so very hard to get to this point. We are getting to the top of the mountain - and we will keep climbing because we must see this through the finish line!
Parents should have received a cheer balance sheet on Wednesday. I didn't get the opportunity to break down cookie dough information in time, but it was important that you had at least an idea of your current balance for payment upcoming on Friday. I have calculated those amounts from cookie dough and applied it to your accounts. I will re-print the balance sheets on Monday for those of you who this applies to.
Remember, if we get a bid for Nationals, I need a $150 commitment check no later than Nov 6. If you know this is too great of a financial commitment before then, please let me know sooner.
Also, the unified banquet is on Nov 6 - next week - the cheer program pays for the cheer's meal. Every cheer will attend. If you had a unified partner, please prepare a 1-2 minute speech about your experience working with your Unified Cheer Buddy this season.
A few new things that have popped up on the radar:
1 - Holiday party. The best day to do this is likely going to be Wednesday, December 10 or Thursday, Dec 11. We have a basketball game on the 12 for 3/5 of the bball groups, and Dec 13 is JV State (more on this in a moment). We usually do a Secret Spirit Buddy with a $20 gift for that person, and the cheers also do a white elephant ornament exchange. Dec 19th is the first Friday in ten years we haven't had a basketball game on the Friday before Winter Break. I'd really like athletes home with their families and leave that date open for holiday travel since we almost always have a game that Friday or Saturday of winter break. We could also do Saturday evening after JV State on Dec 13.
2 - JV State. Cherokee Trail is hosting JV State this year. Varsity parents and cheers will be utilized in some way that day. The last time I checked, we are running concessions that day - as a fundraiser for us for Nationals. All varsity athletes must attend, please mark your calendars. There will probably be a need for parent help, too (running the warm up/on deck area, running score sheets, or something to that effect. It's the biggest competition for the JV cheers and they will be busy getting ready to compete, so we will manage - Varsity cheers WILL get to see JV Cheer/Pom perform). When I get more information, I'll let you know - it's not sponsored by Cherokee Trail, they (Colorado Spirit Coaches Association) sought out CTHS as a venue since our gym can accommodate so many people.
3 - POM League is Nov 11 at GHS. We will shorten practice that day so we can go to support POM.
A note to parents, families, and friends regarding upcoming competitions - many of our venues make it easy to approach cheerleaders immediately before or after performances. I know many of you may be excited to see your cheer right before or right after they perform. It's critical that our athletes prepare, compete, and debrief as a team from one hour prior to warm ups to at least fifteen minutes following our performance. It's important for us to stay completely focused before we go on, and debrief immediately following our competition. We will return the athletes back to parents for a while to relax and debrief as the schedule allows before sitting together again as a team. Our cheers did an excellent job last weekend at staying off their phones while at competition, which is a new standard we've set for ourselves this year. Let's keep that momentum going so we can stay in the moment. If you have Navy or Burgundy to wear this weekend, please wear it so we can stand out in the crowd!

Week of Oct 22 - Nov 1
Hello, Cheer families!
The schedule has changed for the competition on Saturday. Our schedule isn't impacted, but five teams added the day they released the schedule, so that will push awards back.
Word on the street is that we may get a playoffs bid for football, which is great! We will know on Monday if we do. Standby for the playoffs schedule if we get a bid. I'm currently considering shortening both Thursday and Friday's practice next week to just a couple of run-throughs and some quick clean-ups. I don't want to over-do it for us in the next two weeks. The pressure has been building lately, and my goals for next week's practices are to stay loose - not to make any major overhauls to the routine. I will let you know by Monday what the full plan is after considering what our playoff commitments will be.
Reminder we have a Nationals meeting TOMORROW. Please come a bit early - we will do a quick parent performance of our routine for you to teach the words for Saturday! We will do our performance at 5:30 to kick off our meeting, and then we will meet. Please remember we don't have all of the nationals details hammered down completely yet. The purpose of this meeting is to give a ballpark financial commitment, fundraising ideas, and give parents an idea of how out-of-state-travel for athletic teams works, as well as our school and team guidelines. I will also be giving some important announcements regarding the Pueblo competition. Schedule is set to be released for performance times on Nov 1 on Monday, Oct 27. The competition will not begin until the afternoon. So far that's all I know for time.
Week upcoming:
Wed, Oct 22: UE/Parent-Teacher conferences
Thu, Oct 23: Practice 3-5:30. Parent performance at 5:30. Nationals meeting 5:30-6:45ish
Fri, Oct 24: Practice 3:00-4:15, then Away Vs. OHS at Stutler bowl. Please arrive at 6:15. We are taking quick photo in front of the CSU sign.
Sat, Oct 25: FIRST COMP! Arrive at 1. See previous post.
Sun, Oct 26: NO CONTACT
Mon, Oct 27: UE 3:30-4:30 plus playoff info and revised Thu/Fri practice schedule to be confirmed.
Tue, Oct 28: NO PRACTICE
Wed, Oct 29: UE 3:30-4:30
Thu, Oct 30: Practice 7am-8 or 8:30
Fri, Oct 31: Practice 7-8 or 8:30
Sat, Nov 1: PUEBLO REGIONAL. Medium Varsity AND Gameday division.

Week of Oct 16-26
Hello, cheer families!
Lots of announcements:
Remember I said I'd forget something during homecoming week? I definitely forgot the October payment. I'm going to move the October payment to October 31. I'll get balance sheets out early next week. If you've already made your October payment, I'll deposit it - thank you!
Next Thursday we were scheduled for a volleyball game, and as I understand it, it has been canceled. Therefore, we will practice from 3-5:30 pm leading up to our first competition! Our preliminary Nationals meeting will begin at 5:30 at the conclusion of practice.
Speaking of the first competition, I have not received any information for our performance times for any competitions as of yet. I'll you know AS SOON as I know. I am waiting on the competition venue at this point.
Pueblo competition on November 1:
We need (a second) school permission form for Nov 1 since it is outside of the Denver Metro area. Look for that, along with some additional travel information, shortly. I'm looking in to the cost of chartering a bus to get everyone down there. I should know more this afternoon.
The basketball schedule has been passed out to your cheer. Not every cheerleader cheers every game. We have 5 small groups. For each game, 3 of 5 groups cheers, and two groups do not have to cheer and do not have any cheer responsibilities for that day unless we have UE in the afternoon. (Yes, we have Wednesday games. Yes, we go to UE. Yes, we cheer that evening. Plan ahead for homework, etc but games don't usually start until 7pm, and I will push back Wednesday arrival times.) Everyone has the same number of events. We have two double headers - no one has to cheer a full double header. Instead, I split the teams into two groups, A and B. Each group cheers one game for the double header according to A/B groups. Because everything is perfectly even right now, if ANY additions get made to the calendar for events, we will ALL cheer those events. It's still early, and coaches will sometimes add non-conference games to the schedule. The packet your cheer receives has EVERYONE'S schedule in case people need to switch games, along with a summary of which groups cheer which games. Group numbers were randomly assigned to groups. Here's how to read the schedule:
Find your name on the front page. Look at what group number you belong to (it is listed above your name at the top). Go the schedule that matches your group number - your name is ALSO at the top of the schedule. That's your list of games for the season. You have access to the other schedules for your reference in the event you need to make a switch.
You will get one FREE game, and one SWITCH game for the season. Coaches are not involved in switching games and it is NOT the coaching staff's responsibility to cover or accommodate switches.
Here is the week upcoming:

Saturday: Homecoming dance - NO practice.

Week of Oct 8 - 19
Hello, Cheer families!
Due to absolutely unforseen scheduling circumstances that are outside of our control, our practice schedule for the remainder of the week must be changed. Please note the following changes below. We discussed the potential for a schedule change on Monday of this week at practice, and confirmed these changes on Tuesday at practice. My hope is your cheers relayed the information to you so you can plan accordingly. Again, I don't take schedule changes lightly, but, given how close we are to competition season, the cheers need the floor time.
Today, Wed, Oct 8: UE 3:30-4:30
Thu, Oct 9: Unified pictures at 3:15. Wear Sparkle white. NO PRACTICE.
Fri, Oct 10: Practice 3-4:15ish (we have gym time until 4:30 but we also have a game, and I want the kids to have some time to rest beforehand). Game at Valor: Arrive at 6:20 for a 7pm game. 3775 E. Grace Blvd. Highlands Ranch, CO. **Begin 2wk windows
Saturday, Oct 11: Practice, 7-10am
Saturday, Oct 11: Team Bonding/Senior Sign Making at Chelsea's House, 3pm-6pm **PLAN To ATTEND!
Sunday, Oct 12: No Contact
BEGIN HOMECOMING WEEK!!
Mon, Oct 13: UE 3:30-4:30
Tue, Oct 14: Practice, 3-6pm in GYM
Wed, Oct 15: 6:30 AM Pep Assembly Run-Through practice with Student Leadership. UE, 3:30-4:30 *PowderPuff - we need cheers to cheer with Unified at PowderPuff
Thu, Oct 16: Wow. Here we go:
Spirit Bus - all day during school
Practice for homecoming HALFTIME routine with Pom - immediately following Spirit Bus, until about 3:15ish.
Volleyball game vs. EHS - arrive at 6:00 for a 6:15 start time.
Decorate senior houses following game - this won't take nearly as long as last year as all houses are going to be arranged by geography.
Friday: HIGH VISIBILITY DAY. YOU MUST ATTEND ALL CLASSES TO PERFORM AT PEP ASSEMBLY/GAME. Pep assembly during 4th period. Homecoming game. Arrive at school no later than 5:15 for a 7pm start time - we need to stuff the run through, warm up everything, etc. This game is huge! **Can I get a parent volunteer to drop off a stack of pizzas or a giant subway (enough for both Varsity, unified and JV?) at around 6? Save the receipt, cheer will reimburse for this one.
Saturday: Homecoming dance
Sunday: No contact.
**Please be flexible this week, I'm sure even though I've gone over this with a fine tooth comb that there's something I'm forgetting. (I already had to re-update this twice!) It's a crazy week! Let's hold on for the ride and enjoy it!

Week of Sept 24- Oct 3
Wow, I can't believe we are getting in to October already!
If your cheer hasn't handed in all release waivers, I need them! League needs them a month early. You should have 4 forms - one for Douglas County (should cover both competitions), one for Pueblo, one for Mile Hi (these two forms are identical), and one for League.
Updates and reminders -
Extra cookie dough boxes - please sell them at cost for $10 - if you sell for more, we'll add to your personal cheer account.
I'm working on getting a classroom for a parent nationals meeting on Thursday, October 23 at 5pm. I will put it tentatively on the schedule. We have a volleyball game we are cheering that night starting at 6:15, so I was thinking we can get everyone in for the meeting, meet, and then go to Volleyball.
Homecoming is coming up the week of October 13 - please plan for generalized and entirely unpredictable insanity. I will do my best to keep us up to date. Please know there may be tough-to-predict changes to the schedule. I'll do my best to avoid it, but, again, it's a crazy week. It's also the week before our first competition, so our practice schedule will not relax to accomodate.
I'm working on getting practice space for us on Oct 30 and 31 in the morning (so as not to interfere with Halloween festivities) before the Pueblo competition. Pueblo is our first shot to get a nationals bid. It's a hugely important competition for us. I will tentatively add it to the schedule. I do not know if UE is closed that week. I'll ask today. If it's open, we will tumble on Mon/Wed as usual. Standby for more information, but I will tentatively put it on the calendar to be safe.
Week upcoming:
Wed, Sep 24: UE 3:30-4:30
Thu, Sep 25: Practice 3-4 gym, 4 - 5:30 cafeteria
Fri, Sep 26: Game vs. Creek at Stutler. Arrive NO LATER than 6:15 for a 7pm start time!
Sat, Sep 27: Practice, 7-9 am
Sun, Sep 28: NO CONTACT
Mon, Sep 29 UE 3:30-4:30
Tue, Sep 30: Practice (first half hr w/Unified) from 4:30-6:45pm
Wed, Oct 1: UE 3:30-4:30
Thu, Oct 2: Game at home vs. GHS - SENIOR RECOGNITION NIGHT
Fri, Oct 3: Practice 4:30-6:30 at FRMS with POM and JV for the Homecoming Pep Assembly Performance
Sat Oct 4: Practice 7am-10am.
Sun, Oct 5: NO CONTACT
Have a good week!

Week of 9/17-9/27
Hello, Cheer families!
The cookie dough fiasco...
We managed to get saddled with about 20 or so extra boxes of cookie dough. Your cheer may have taken home an extra box to sell (either at cost or for profit to go back in to the cheer account). I was so dumbfounded by the whole event that I inadvertently told the cheerleaders that each box at-cost was $5.60. I was wrong. $5.60 is the PROFIT from each cheer's box sold, not the product cost. If you took an extra cookie dough box it is $10.40 (let's just call it $10 and make it easy on ourselves). You have a few options if you took an extra box:
1 - bring it back and I'll see if someone else can offload it.
2 - pay $10 to the cheer account - not $5.60 - for the box and eat it. I can add the $10 cost to your financials sheet.
3 - sell it for $10 to someone who will eat it and then turn in the $10 to cheer so we can break even.
4 - sell it for $16 to someone who will eat it and then turn the $16 in to cheer, and I will credit your account by $5.60.
5 - sell it for a hundred bucks and then I'll credit your account by $90. Just kidding. Option 5 isn't really an option. Well, never say never, I guess.
I'll give anyone who took an extra box until October 20 to sell it and return the money - if the money isn't returned or the cookie dough isn't returned, I'll just add $10 to your financial agreement.
Thank you to those of you who offered to try and sell another box. All of these magic boxes we got loaded with are eating in to our already limited budget. By a lot. And on that note, if you want a box of oatmeal cookies or know someone who wants a box, I have 4 that I'm trying to sell right now. Shoot me an email.
Reminder that September payments were due on Sept 16th. If you were scheduled to pay in September, please get payments in so I can make the deposit in a timely fashion.
Ok, on to the schedule:
Wed, Sep 17: UE and Banner Photo - get to our photo ASAP - there is an award ceremony that starts at 6:30pm that some cheers are involved in.
Thu, Sep 18: Practice - gym, 3 - 6 pm, 6p-8pm is the parent sport psychology seminar at SHHS. If there are parents who can attend, please do!
Friday, Sep 19: 10am-12pm: Athlete sport psychology meeting at SHHS.
Saturday, Sep 20: LONG day! Practice 8am-10am. Meet at the stadium (APS) at 11:15 for the noon game.
Sunday, Sep 21: NO CONTACT
Monday, Sep 22: UE
Tuesday, Sep 23: Practice 4:45-7pm in the gym
Wednesday, Sept 24: UE
Thurs, Sep 25: Practice 3-5:30 gym and cafeteria
Fri, Sep 26: Away at Stutler Bowl vs. Creek! Arrive at 6:15pm.
Satuday, Sept 27: Practice 7-9 am in the gym.
Sun, Sept 28: NO CONTACT
Upcoming to think about: Senior Night is October 2nd.
Have a great week! Sell those cookie dough boxes if you have extra!

Week of 9/11-9/20
Hello, Cheer families!
Update on cheer gear: Everything has been ordered since Tuesday except for fleeces and sweats. Thank you for your patience and at this point, we are waiting on vendors, which is not uncommon at this time of the year.
You may have noticed a "new look" to your financials sheets. We gave you one last copy of your order form so you know what you've ordered. You can keep that from here on out. We will move your future payments over to the balance sheet. It's a little "roomier" and easier to read. As cheers add items or fundraise, we will apply the fundraiser funds to the balance owed as a payment. The most recent payment does not have cookie dough discounts on it. We are still waiting for the breakdown from our supplier. However, we did receive $5.60 per box sold, if you'd like to give yourself an idea of how large the discount will be. You can continue to make payments as you scheduled at the start of the year - don't feel like the balance needs to be paid in full. We run payments through January, if needed. Each month, we will recopy a new balance sheet with all new payments applied and return that sheet to you with your current balance. I also moved the September payment back a week since sheets were only handed out on Tuesday afternoon to get you some extra time. If it looks like I missed something, please let me know.
There is a Sports Psychology presentation by Greg Dale for parents on September 18th from 6-8pm at SHHS. If you are available to attend, please do! We will send some cheers to the Friday morning presentation (we must mandatory send 2-3, but I think it would be great if we can get more), and then coaches will also hear the presentation in the afternoon. From what I've heard, he's a great guy and a great speaker. If a parent can attend on behalf of CT Cheer for the parent community, that would be incredible. Please let me know if you will attend so I can send a list of parents to our AD.
Nationals: We will be setting up a Nationals meeting shortly to discuss preliminary details. Look for it to appear on the calendar. It will likely be a Tuesday or Thursday evening.
Week upcoming:
Sep 11: White Out game vs. Regis - Legacy Stadium - arrive at 5:45 be STRETCHING AT 5:45.
Sep 12: NATIONAL SPIRIT DAY! A day students report to the ILC room on your off period and find Coach Bear (JV POM) to do some work around the school and hang out with our unified cheers. Should only take about a half hour or so. 1/2 pt community service (mandatory). B Day or no off kids, you'll get a chance to help out for community service points at some point in the future. Practice @ FRMS, 3:15-4:30

Week of Aug 21- Sep 1
Hello, cheer families!
Please thank Kelly Schauls when you see her for getting together our group flight for Nationals! We got a loan for our deposit from athletics to secure the deposit early to save money on flights! Next steps will be:
1 - continue with Nationals fundraising. (we won't have a final total for nationals until we get a bid and a hotel information packet. Ballpark is around $1200 all-inclusive but our flight will leave Thursday and return on Monday.) Remember Broncos games are an option and we will start talking in a few weeks about doing a sponsorship letter, etc. Part of our kid clinic money will go to reducing cost of Nationals, too. The other part is going to mats.
2 - Get the bid!
Speaking of fundraising - our cookie dough money will be DUE on August 29th. Please bring order forms and checks on that date. If you haven't texted your number of boxes sold to Sierra's Mom, Krista, please see the remind101 for her phone number and do that. We will do another text update next Tuesday.
We will be getting a big team vinyl poster photo to hang in the commons! Our photo date is tentatively scheduled for Friday, August 29th. That's a VERY busy day for us. See details below.
Uniforms and warm-up orders were placed two weeks ago and they are being made right now. Thankfully we have some Saturday games so we won't get cold if the warm ups aren't in on time. Custom orders take some time.
Week upcoming:
Thursday, Aug 21: practice 3-5:30
Friday, Aug 22: practice 3-5:30

Have a great week!

Week of Aug 14 - Aug 24
Hello, cheer families!
Here is the week upcoming:
You will get an email from captains for what to wear to practice each day. It is imperative we dress alike so coaches can see motions and timing errors.
Today: 9th BBQ - those who agreed to pass out kiddie flyers, be there - make it happen!
Friday, Aug 15: Freshman Simulated Day - no practice - Chelsea is working the carnival for her school, if you can help pass out kiddie clinic flyers.
Saturday, Aug 16: Practice 8-12. Captains, please make sure everyone is wearing the same outfit. Community service opportunity to follow until 2pm - email Lara Mills for details
Sunday, Aug 17: NO CONTACT
Monday, Aug 18: First day of school!!! You will get information about what to wear this day. Not dressing with the team will result in a no-dress suspension for the following game per the handbook. UE at 3:30pm
Tue, Aug 19: Practice 3-4 in the gym, 4-5:30 in the cafeteria.
Wed, Aug 20: UE at 3:30
Thurs, Aug 21: Practice 3-4 in the gym, 4-5:30 in the cafeteria
Fri, Aug 22: Practice 3-4 in the gym, 4-5:30 in the cafeteria
Saturday, Aug 23: Kiddie Clinic!!!! 7am-12pm
We will be selling the white We Are CT T-shirts at the home opener on August 28th for the white out on September 11th !! If you haven't bought a shirt, buy one at this game so that cheer gets the money for it!!!! Shirts cost $10, $5 is the overhead, and then we get $5 for every shirt sold. All of this will go toward new mats for the team. The goal is to get everyone in the stands wearing this shirt at our games, parents and students included. JV cheers will sell the shirts at the game since varsity cheers will be cheering at the game, but if parents can stop by for a few minutes to check in, that would be very helpful.
We are currently looking at booking plane tickets for Nationals. If we get a bid to Nationals this year, we will go (barring any major team issues). We have a group flight ready, but unfortunately, the school can only process money for the athletes, not parents. Once we have a secured deposit on flights, we can give out flight information for attending parents to book. More details to follow shortly.
Cheerleaders - it is CRITICAL that you follow the CT dress code while at school. Keep this in mind as you do your school shopping. The handbook states no B's - breasts, bellies, backs, or booties. I do not want any calls from the deans or hear from teachers that you are dressed outside of the parameters of the dress code at school. They are tightening up on dress code violations this year, so if you got away with it last year, you won't get away with it this year. When in doubt, err on the safe side.
Also, you may have seen on the calendar that Corepower Yoga is doing a fundraiser for the new Mascot! They have a donation-based class on Sundays at 6pm. Take a yoga class and 100% of the proceeds go to the new mascot!
See you guys on Monday!

Week of Aug 7 - 15
Hello, Cheer Families!
Please check your email regarding an important financial cost correction. If you have any questions, please feel free to email or call.
Here is the week upcoming!
Friday, Aug 8: Practice 8-10:45, Pedi party team bonding from 10:45-12pm. The pedi party is part of a personal fundraiser - 20% of what you purchase goes to your personal account! You do not need to feel obligated to purchase, but if you do, part of the money comes back to you. Either way, you get a pedi for free! Remember to bring a hand towel that can be used on your feet and some cash/check/credit to spend on makeup/face wash/eye makeup remover/pedicure stuff! You can purchase pedicure supplies or any other makeup or skincare products. This is being done through Mary Kay. At a minimum, I swear by the eye makeup remover. Just my two cents. ;)
Again, please know that our practice times are not static. The schedule has been pretty much secured through at least Fall Break. If you have a job or other commitments, it's important to look ahead on the calendar for start AND finish times before turning in your work hours to your boss or agreeing to other commitments. There are days we don't begin until 4:15 or 4:30, which means we go late. There are days on the calendar when we look like we start at 3 and it's easy to assume that we have practice until 5:30, but we are actually scheduled until 7. Once school starts, the practice schedule doesn't often change last-minute, but it does require that you look at starting and ending times on the calendar to plan outside-of-cheer commitments. When we start late in the day, we go later into the evening, and when we have full gym space due to volleyball being away, we capitalize on that precious time. Please make sure you click on the start times to know when the scheduled finish time is for a practice. Please also know that if practice times get shuffled, it's likely due to outside influences. If we get shuffled due to an outside influence, the coaching staff will weigh the need for practice against the inconvenience of the time change and decide accordingly. It's not easy to shuffle practice times last-minute, and we only do it when we absolutely have to.
FALL BREAK: Our first comp will be on the Saturday that begins Fall Break and our second comp will be on the final Saturday ending Fall Break. The second Saturday is our Pueblo Regional where we make our first attempt at a bid to Nationals. It's a CRITICAL comp. We also have playoff games during that time. If you know you will not be available to practice during fall break or attend either comp, I need to know now so I can plan our comp team accordingly.

Week of July 28 - August 8th
Welcome back! I hope you have been working out and getting strong!
Sorry this has been so long in coming. As you know, the schedule can be difficult to work out once school starts. Thank you for your flexibility.
CTHS is hosting the administration team meetings this year. This means that every administrator in the district will be in attendance at CT on Friday and Monday. Because we are hosting such an important event, we were asked to welcome the district administration in the same way that we welcome the teachers on their first day. This will be from 9:00 to 9:45am this friday. I know it's short notice. If you can't make it because you are out of town, please let me know ASAP. But it's important that if you are here you attend. We need to make a good showing. Because it's short notice, I will offer 1 full community service point for those who can make it.
Friday, August 1st - Admin welcome from 9:00-9:45am. Wear Trail with white bow. 1 full point community service since it's short notice. Please tell me ASAP if you are out of town. Otherwise, please plan to attend.
Monday, August 4th: We ALL have tumbling at UE. 3:30-4:30.
Tuesday, August 5th: 7:45am-10:00am. **Sophomores, you have registration today. We will end ON TIME so you can do your registration FOLLOWING PRACTICE. Ribbon Cutting ceremony at the new elementary, details to follow.
Wednesday, August 6th: UE from 3:30-4:30
Thursday. August 7th: 7:45am-10:00am **Link leaders, you have Link training immediately following practice this day.
Friday, August 8th: 8:00am-10:45am: Practice 10:45-12:00pm, we will have a team bonding. The team bonding is a pedicure party that will double as a fundraiser. Any purchase you make during the pedis - 20% of the cost will go to your personal account.
Saturday, August 9th: OFF
Sunday, August 10th: NO CONTACT.
Monday, August 11th: UE 3:30-4:30 captain's meeting to follow at UE.
Tuesday, August 12th: Teacher welcome 6:30am-7:15am (1/2 pt community service) then Practice, cafeteria from 3:00-5:30

Friday, August 15th: NO PRACTICE - Freshman orientation

Sunday, August 17th: NO CONTACT
Monday, August 18th: First day of school, wear uniform TBD. UE at 3:30.
**We only have 30 practices until our first competition. That may feel like a LOT, but in the grand scheme of things, it is NOT a lot of time.
Other calendar notes:
August 5th is a BIG day - sally challenges, timed mile, chant test. We have ribbon cutting to attend at the new elementary school at 5:45pm. Details to come. ALSO, payment #3 is due. We are in the process of organizing another August fundraiser for September's payments. Details to come soon.
Please continue to look at long range planning to make sure you are taking care of your practice schedule commitments. Practice times will change through the season to accommodate our needs as a team. It's important that you work outside obligations around cheer practice.
See you Friday morning at the Admin welcome! I'm excited to get back at it!

Hello Cheer Families!
As we are on July break, communication will be very limited, however, we have a few housekeeping items to attend to - one of great importance if you will be attending tumbling classes in July.
JULY TUMBLING:
July Tumbling class is Tuesday from 9 - 10:30am at United Elite, located at 9950 E Easter Avenue - if this is your first time to UE, it's in the same complex as Monkey Bizness. Look for the Monkey Bizness sign along Easter Ave and turn in to the same bank of buildings. You'll see the gym almost immediately. If you have a last minute sign up I can take it today, but from here on out, I'm pretty sure we have everyone who is going to attend signed up. If you are a late add for tumbling and didn't include classes on your Financial Agreement, I will make the adjustment on your August payment, or the easiest thing to do would be to simply add $65 to your next payment in August to pay for the classes.
Before class on Tuesday, you need to REGISTER with UE on their website:

WORKOUTS:
In
case you lose your half sheet, here is the July Workout Schedule.
Adjust it to fit your schedule but do not miss any workouts. (For
example, if you know you will be busy all day on a Thursday, skip your
Thursday but complete it on Saturday or another rest day. That's why
two rest days are built in for you.) Coach Sarro explained the
workouts and how to modify them at practice. If you weren't at
practice, please get with someone who was so they can explain it to you
if you're stuck. They are only about 20 minutes to a half an hour long -
this is 2% of your day. Find the time. Get strong.
Daily-25 Jumps, 50 sit-ups, and STRETCH at least 15 minutes
Monday- Sally up squats, push-up,
and abs
Tuesday- Timed mile (under 9:30 is the expectation)
Wednesday- Boot Camp: 1 minute of each exercise with no
breaks! Do 3 sets with a minute break
between sets.
1.
Handstand
push-ups
2.
Twisting
boat
3. Burpees
4.
Leg
raises
5.
Push-ups
6. Walking planks
Thursday- easy 1-2 miles
Friday- Sally up squats, push-ups,
and abs
Weekend- REST!!!
RETURNING FROM JULY BREAK:
On
Monday, August 4th, we will be at UE from 3:30-4:30. On Tuesday,
August 5th, we will have practice. Practice will consist of a timed
mile (9:30 cutoff - many of you have made outstanding progress on your
timed miles this last month - do not lose this progress!) , the Sally
Challenges, and a sideline chant test. Be ready for this. No
excuses. We will also prep for the ribbon cutting performance. (See
below)
RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY:
There
will be a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new elementary school on
August 5th at 6pm. Varsity cheers MUST attend (1/2 pt community
service). Please get your work schedules lined up NOW to make room to
attend. I'm guessing we will be there until about 7:30 at the very
latest. We will likely perform. Plan to do extreme routine and the
time out cheer that goes with it.
COACHES SCHEDULE:
I
will have zero internet or phone access (I won't even have electricity
or running water!) from July 6th-13th. Beginning July 14th, I will be
able to check email in the evenings as I am at Professional Development
in Kansas city for three weeks. I think the hotel has wireless internet
access, but if not, I'll get a message to the coaching staff to pass
along to you via the blog if I can't get to it.
COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITY:
There
is a community service opportunity coming up the week of July 20-24.
Look for an email from Lara Mills shortly with the details. As the
summer winds down, community service opportunities do, too, as we get
really busy with the school year. This service opportunity involves
helping out with animals for a Vacation Bible School - remember, it's
voluntary, and if you have a faith-based community service, we welcome
those opportunities for everyone of all our faiths that represent CT
Cheer!
Please
keep active and do your workouts over break. We expect you to return
stronger than when you left and we will certainly notice if you aren't.
I am so very proud of the progress we all made in June - some of you
had some incredible breakthroughs! I have never felt more ready for
games or competitions. We are going to do some incredible things this
year.
Enjoy a restful break,
Coach
